Personal Transfers
Who needs a Personal Transfer?
A Personal Transfer is required if:
A student lives within the Rapid City Area School District, and
The family wants the student to attend a school other than the one assigned to their boundary area
Please Note:
A personal transfer is required when a student advances to a new grade level that results in a building change (elementary → middle or middle → high school) and the family is requesting attendance at a school other than the one assigned based on the student’s residential address.
If your student is accepted for a personal transfer you only need to apply again if they are changing buildings for middle or high school like stated above.
How Personal Transfers work:
Applications are submitted electronically
Requests are reviewed in the order they are received
Approval depends on program and space availability
Applications are submitted to the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services
