Community Planning Process
Over the past year, the district has taken a thoughtful, transparent, and community-driven approach to planning for the future of our schools. This work has included:
Comprehensive Facilities Planning (Completed May 2025)
Conducted a districtwide Facilities Master Plan evaluating every school
Assessed building conditions, safety, capacity, and long-term needs
Identified the highest-priority improvements to maintain, modernize, and extend the life of existing facilities
Community Input & Voter Feedback
Completed a community perception survey of registered voters across the Rapid City area
Identified clear community priorities, including:
Student and staff safety
Building conditions and maintenance
Responsible, sustainable growth
Ensured the proposed plan directly reflects what voters said matters most
Focus on Strong, Balanced School Communities
Prioritized balanced enrollment across schools
Maintained a focus on preserving strong school identities and communities
Designed solutions that support both current students and future growth
