Rapid Valley and Rapid City Area Schools marked a major milestone with a celebratory groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming Rapid Valley school renovation and addition project. The event brought together community leaders, educators, students, and project partners to recognize the start of an investment that will shape the future of learning in the district.
The project reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, modern learning environments that support student success. Attendees gathered to hear remarks and celebrate the vision for a space designed to meet the needs of a growing community while enhancing educational opportunities for all students.
Superintendent Dr. Thompson, Mayor Salamun, Principal Bryan, and Jade Clement were among those who shared in the celebration, alongside student leaders who helped make the event especially meaningful. Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration between schools, local leadership, and the community.
The district also recognized its project partners, Scull Construction and Chamberlin Architects, whose expertise will play a key role in bringing the renovation and addition to life.
“This project is about more than construction,” district leaders emphasized during the event. “It’s about investing in our students, supporting growth, and creating spaces where learning can thrive.”
As construction begins, the excitement continues to build. The Rapid Valley project represents not just a physical transformation, but a shared commitment to the future of education in Rapid City Area Schools.
