Our Mission: 

Every student who enters the Rapid City Area Schools will have the best possible resources and opportunities to become proficiently literate.

To facilitate that mission, the Secondary Literacy Office, located in room 286 of North Middle School, works with Instructional Support Teachers from every secondary building as well as with a Literacy Leaders Partnership group of reading and writing teachers. Another specific implementation is the Mentor/Mentee Pilot Project for first- and second-year teachers in all content areas. Each semester we offer classes to all RCAS staff for professional development which can be taken for college credit, state recertification credit, or career enhancement.

In addition, the Secondary Literacy Office at North Middle School maintains a professional library of books, dvd's, and videos. These resources are available for check out to all RCAS staff.
