Building Leadership Team

2007-2008

Every year building principals choose a team from their staff whose job it is to determine and coordinate the professional development goals for their building. This team meets several times per year with district teams to ensure that building goals align with district goals. The building teams then come up with a plan, which they present to their building staff.

This year at North the goal is to positively impact our school’s test scores. To facilitate that goal, every staff member that interacts with the children in a classroom has come up with an action plan that addresses one of the two lowest scoring standards in reading or in math. These plans integrate with the class work already being done so teachers do not need to take time from the content they must teach, just tweak it a little to address one of those lowest scoring standards.

It is hoped that all the additional support provided for students will have a positive impact on their understanding of the concepts that have proven so difficult in the past. Additional support is provided through repeated focus of those concepts and themes, seen though the different lenses of social studies, science, math, writing, reading, computer skills, music, physical education, art, health, family and consumer science, and industrial technology.
