March 2001 March 2001 Upcoming Events:
After School Enrichment : Begins the week of March 5th.
March 19th: Yes, we do have school. Make up for our snow day.
End of the Quarter : Tuesday, March 20th (Hard to believe, isn't it? )
SAT Testing: March 26th through April 18th. Please let me know of any travel plans during this time, so I can coordinate with our testing schedule.
Field Trip: We will be attending the 1:00 performance of "Super Scientific Circus" at the Civic Center. Cost is $4.00 per person. I will need 2 or 3 drivers. Permission slips and more info. to come shortly.
Lincoln's School Carnival: March 30th. Fourth and fifth grade will be doing the concession stand to help raise money for a bus trip to Custer State Park in May. We will need parents and students to help work shifts on this night. I will send more information as we get closer to carnival time. I just wanted you to have the date for your calendar.
Math: We are currently working on fractions and measurement.
We will also be spending time reviewing all we've learned this
year to prepare for testing.
Science: We're having fun with the landforms unit. We've been building models and making maps. The next unit is on erosion and stream tables.
Language Arts: The students continue to do an excellent job with centers . Literature groups are going well, and most students are becoming very responsible.
Health: We're working on a play about the importance of eating "5 A Day" and hope to perform in late March or early April.
Social Studies: We're taking a break for now, but remind your child to keep working on states and capitals. Due to testing in March, our next quiz will be at the end of April. We'll shoot for 30 to 35 of each by then. The students are doing a great job with this memory skill.

Rebekah took first place in our classroom spelling contest and Tesslla took second place. Nice job girls!!
