Dorothy was a kindergarten teacher and she taught for six years. This is what she remembers: "I remember the fleas out in the annex that were causing discomfort-dead cats were found underneath! To The Top
Charles was a former Superintendent of Schools. This is what he remembers: "It has always been a pleasurable experience to visit the General Beadle Elementary School. I visited it on a number occasions when Mrs..Jarchow was the principal and also during Mrs. Petersen's term as principal. General Beadle has been fortunate to have such outstanding administrators, teachers, and staff. Congratulations on the 50th Anniversary and all the best for the future." To The Top
Ingrid was a substitute that taught Kindergarten through sixth grade from 1983-1986. Ingrid has since moved to Great Falls, Montana and is a mortician. To The Top
Leola Kane was a fourth grade teacher from 1960 -1963. She taught at Beadle after moving here from Miller, S.D. where she taught for 19 years. She then taught at Beadle for 3 years. To The Top
Pennie Kirk taught for five years from 1986-1991. This is what she has to say: "During the years I was teaching at Beadle I was privileged to work with the student council and to supervise a variety of civics lessons and activities. We had mock elections, enjoyed special visitors ( Tom Daschle came when he was just a congressman ) and took field trips to a variety of local government meetings. In March of 1997, our 6th grade class found out that there were plans to move the statue of General Beadle out of the capital rotunda. We did a letter writing campaign to keep the 3,000 pound statue right were it was. Well, the bill passed and a few of our students and I were invited to Pierre for the bill signing. Governor George Mickelson met with us that day and we had a wonderful time visiting the legislative session, meeting the Pennington County delegation and seeing state government in action. I wonder if the General Beadle statue is still in the rotunda? Of course, none of these activities would ever have been possible without the help of Mrs. Petersen ( the BEST principal! ) and her good right arm Elmae ! ! To The Top
Arriving at General Beadle in September, 1961,
my classroom was in an annex. The following year was when Knollwood
was being built, so we shared a classroom in the main building
with Cheryl (Duncanson) Lindholm until Knollwood was opened six
weeks before school ended in 1963. I taught the morning section
and she taught the afternoon section at General Beadle. We both
taught Grade 3.
