Fourteen years ago when Mrs. Petersen came to General Beadle the school had grades K-6. As the years have gone by we lost the six grade to North Middle School and three of the districts of Special Education rooms were moved to other buildings.
Many changes have taken places during these years. We currently have a fully equipped computer lab and several computers in every area in the school. General Beadle was one of the first schools connected to the internet. This technology enriches the academic learning of the children.
Our school also provides the students with the following : Reading Recovery, Speech, Accelerated Reading, Literacy groups, Tag, Ateyapi, Home School Facilitators, Instructional Assistance, Counseling, Learning Center, Library , Music, and P.E., Breakfast and Lunch are also provided for the children.
By mid -1999 all of the old furniture will have been replaced. Only the southeast hallway and rooms need to be updated which should take place by 2001.
Many children have gone to General Beadle and come back as young adults to enroll their children . It gives us all a great feeling to see matured but familiar faces.
Students at General Beadle had many things to share. Part of the joy of being the principal at General Beadle Elementary is working with the children. Working with the children is to learn all aspects of how to become successful in school and society. The students at General Beadle are the great learners and want to be the best they can be while learning who they are. As an individual I loved them all. They were GREAT.
Mrs. Petersen loved her job and the students, staff, parents and the community members with whom she had the opportunity to work. "I will cherish the memories that you have given me through our working together. General Beadle students, staff, parents, and community will always be #1 in my heart!"
