The Building of a New Community
In 1948, the Rapid City Independent School District authorized
the building of a new elementary school in North Rapid City. A piece of land,
just south of the Halley Airport, was acquired for building the elementary
school. In June of 1949, construction began and was finished in September
of 1950. The new elementary school was named for an important educational
leader in South Dakota, General Beadle.
