Test-Out Program

Spring 2007

Test-out sessions will be scheduled in April of 2007 for students to be enrolled in grades 9-12 during the 2007-2008 school year. Any student enrolled in the district may test out of courses approved by the Board of Education subject to the conditions outlined in District Code: IHH. Courses include computer literacy and ninth and tenth grade level required courses in English, mathematics, science and social studies.

The tests are comprehensive and assess factual knowledge as well as process and performance skills appropriate to the subject. Test pre-registration will be in the Office of Student Achievement / Staff Development on the third floor of the City / School Administration Center. Pre-registration must be done in person, by the student or their parent / guardian, dates and times to be announced. There is no cost to the student to challenge a course.

Students will be allowed to challenge a specific course only once. A score of 85 percent or better will successfully challenge a course and a credit will be awarded. Successfully challenged courses will be recorded as a pass on official student transcripts and will not affect the student’s official grade point average. Attached is District Code: IHH outlining the procedure to obtain a letter grade for scholarship purposes. The letter grade will affect the student official grade point average and class ranking.
